Students in my classroom come from varied backgrounds. Some come from families that have money, and others come from poverty situations. Some of my students have a stable home life while others have many challenges and unstable home situations.
Because of the diverse background of my students, our school and individual teachers have worked hard and consistently to be a data-driven school.
This drives diversified instruction. We analyze the individual students needs and address them with research-based lessons using best teaching practices.
Our school should be ranked in the 50 percentile in our school district due to our socioeconomic status, but we have ranked in the top five percent for the last five years. In fact, our school was just named a Blue Ribbon School. Our efforts have paid off, and students are succeeding.
My students are fourth graders who love to read. They come to class enthusiastic about reading no matter if it is fiction, nonfiction, poetry or plays. They have various of different backgrounds, but they all share one thing. They love reading! My students are lovers of reading and want to learn everything that they can through reading.
The books have been chosen with my students in mind.
These books will continue to enhance my classroom and my goal of creating a classroom of readers. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
