This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Student come from a low socioeconomic background. 100% of students at this school and in my classroom receive free or reduced lunch. A large population of students don't have consistent housing which results in frequent absences and school transfers.
We are working on a plan to increase our parent participation but we still need help.
Our students need supplies that many of our parents can't afford and this puts my students at a disadvantage when it is time to complete class assignments.
My Project
My students need hands on interactive lessons and materials. I teach direct instruction in science, math, social studies and language arts to special needs students and gifted students. The science interactive notebooks will be used to help them remember the materials needed to pass the end of course exam in the spring.
In my classroom most students fall below the poverty level of the area and can not bring supplies to the classroom or they don’t have access to the supplies.
The composition notebooks and color pencils will help us create interactive notes that will help the students remember what they are learning.
