This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is made up of a racially, economically, linguistically, and culturally-diverse group of elementary school students who are passionate about learning. I teach the self-contained second grade Early Intervention Plan (EIP) class. My students love hands-on activities that keep them engaged and gives them a sense that learning can be fun.
As a Title I school, the administration and staff are committed to making sure students are reaching their highest potential, breaking barriers, fostering growth, and achieving goals.
My students come from all different cultural backgrounds, from Mexico, Africa, Jamaica, France, and the surrounding neighborhood. It amazes me how much my students are eager to learn and enjoy school as they often times escape harsh realities. Many of my students come from a home where they live in poverty and may not know when they will get their next meal.
My Project
My students use an online learning program called i-Ready. This program has personalized lessons for each student in Reading and Math. I noticed that it has become difficult for my students to focus, because everyone can hear each others lesson talking at the same time.
I want to see my students engaged and passing all of their lessons.
These headphones will help my students concentrate on their personalized lesson, and not the students next to them. So much noise at one time can hinder my students engagement and learning progression with their online lesson. Headphones would allow all my students to thrive and reach their highest potential.
