My Students

I have 22 students who walk into my room every day with such excitement and enthusiasm. They come from many different backgrounds and are all at different academic levels. I have many students who are performing above the grade-level expectations and need to be challenged every day. I have some students that need a lot of hands-on practice to understand the curriculum but work so hard to understand it. They all want to do well and always put in their best effort, which is the best I could ever ask for, out of a group of kids. They are 2nd graders in a school with no funding available for "extras."

My Project

Diving into a good book inspires students to think, create, and learn. Finding a great read-aloud is the first step to teaching students so many wonderful things. Read-alouds are great for teaching a variety of standards and learning targets. They are also perfect for entertainment. Read-alouds are great for teaching classroom rules, routines, and social skills. Students who struggle with focusing, sitting still and even reading will be engaged by just the title of a great read-aloud.

My school does not have a reading curriculum so I purchased one and these books are part of that curriculum.

It would benefit my students to have actual books instead of seeing them projected all the time. Any help you can give would help my students! Thank you for your assistance!
