My Students
I work at a Title 1 school in Cleveland, Ohio in a multi-age classroom. Have you ever read a book and not been able to put it down? That's the experience I want for my students. My students are avid readers and enthusiastic 3rd and 4th-grade learners. They enjoy reading and writing various texts.
However, many of my students are struggling readers who do not have access to books at home and rely on our class library to read high-interest leveled books.
My students often inquire when new books by their favorite authors or subject matter will be added to the library. There is a buzz about books and an excitement for reading in our class.
My Project
These books will help to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time and when I work with them in small groups. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will help my students to develop a lifelong love of reading!
