Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"I pledge to do my best today. I will work hard. I will be kind. Who I am has value. What I think has value. Who I will become is invaluable to the world. Learn more! Achieve more! Be more! On our journey to college and beyond!" Every morning we recite this pledge as a way to start our day.
My students are dedicated to trying their best each day even though they come from less than ideal circumstances.
I teach in a Title 1 school in a dual immersion program. I have 60 students. Over 90% of them qualify for free or reduced lunch. 75% of them are English Language Learners. Their parents work 2 or more jobs trying to make ends meet.
This year I have challenged my students to read 40 books. We are in need of some new books to help them achieve this goal. Many of them do not own books so I do my best to provide books on their reading level to help them achieve this goal.
My Project
My students come from some tough situations. They sometime need something to motivate them to do their best, rather than worry about what is happening outside of school. These incentives will help my students to find the motivation to keep trying and do their best each and every day.
Our school creed says: "Who I am has value, who I will become is invaluable to the world." Through the use of the small toys and candy I am requesting, students can see themselves achieving their goals and growing each day in school.
At times, everyone needs a little motivation to try.
