Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students this year are a loving and energetic 3rd grade group. They love telling stories and giving hugs. Our school’s 3rd grade team is departmentalized so I get the privilege of teaching English Language Arts to two classes totaling to 36 students. Our school is made up of a culturally diverse population with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
I would love to see my students get so excited to learn when coming to my class that they are able to stay focused and engaged.
I strongly believe that every student, no matter where they come from, deserves an equal chance to excel and succeed.
My Project
Laptops are used daily in my classroom for reading, as each student at our school in grades 3 through 5 are given a laptop to use in class. The programs in which the students use require the use of headphones. We request families to bring in headphones for the student, however, many of our families are unable to do so. Most students feel guilty or embarrassed for not being able to bring in headphones. By no means is this the child's fault nor should the child feel that way. By each student having access to classroom headphones, students will be able to complete their assignments and this will help them no longer feel embarrassed about not being able to afford them.
With these headphones I hope to see more children focused on increasing their learning rather than focused on how people perceive them!
