Clarksdale Baseball Season 3 Improvements

Help me give my students the equipment they need to establish the fundamentals of their game. The part of the game that we need to improve upon the most is base running hence selection of the Base Set.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The student athletes that attend W.A. Higgins Fine Arts Academy, a 100% free lunch school, are just as deserving as any other students in the United States. Many of our students come from challenging homes in the Mississippi Delta which are struggling with poverty and opportunity which is why it is very important that we offer more for them at school. Through this project I will enrich the lives of my baseball student athletes.

The baseball team is moving into its third season of play.

Most of our competition are segregation academies where students grow up playing in private leagues. Our athletes are interested in baseball and the state of Mississippi has produced a lot of great baseball players, but we need more equipment in order to help them build more of the fundamental skills needed for the game.

My Project

The equipment that we are requesting will greatly help out the coaches by allowing us to set up players on independent drills. This will allow us to split our practices up into separate rotating groups based on position skill need.

My goal is to have the pitchers working on their accuracy every day.

Since t he backstops are double sided I will have my infielders working on their fielding game using the fielding balls. Furthermore, I will have outfielders working on their base running technique using the base set.

The goal will be to rotate these groups from each station. At the end of practice we will put all of the skills we learn together with a team scrimmage.
