This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach middle and high school band in a high-needs community. The school district is very small and in an urban setting. Our students all receive free lunch and breakfast. Even though the school and community have financial difficulties, my students come to school eager and ready to learn. The financial hardships do not interfere with their desire to learn and be the best they can be.
I am very fortunate to teach in a district where the students want to excel and work very hard.
My Project
I am so excited to have a new group of beginning band students enter my classroom. These students are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to learn how to play a musical instrument. A popular beginning band instrument is the clarinet.
A clarinet doesn't work properly with missing pads.
I have a clarinet that needs to be adjusted and a few pads replaced. In order for all the notes to come out sounding beautiful, I need to get these items on the clarinet repaired. The repair person will adjust the keys and replace the pads that are missing or falling out. As soon as we have these few repairs taken care of, the clarinet will be good as new. Your donations will help kick-start the musical journey of a new clarinetist!
