City Kids Visit the Country- A Day Spent With Nature
Help me give my students a field trip to the Audubon of the North Woods. Your donations will support students lodging, meals and a number of activites.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"The only way forward, if we are going to improve the quality of the environment, is to get everybody involved." -Richard Rogers
Our students want so badly to be involved in the world around them but they lack the experience and the resources to even know where to begin.
I teach at a public charter school in a high-poverty area with a classroom full of learners. They truly enjoy learning new things especially when they can experience learning hands-on. Hands-on learning skills aid in our mission as a school to prepare our students to be positive, productive citizens.
My Project
I am so excited to have been granted the opportunity to bring our 5th grade class on a life changing trip for the fourth year in a row! As a result of this trip our students will have gained experience with nature, team building, and exercise. It will provide our students with a real world experience that will connect with the materials we have learned in class. They will be able to use all of their senses to have an experience in a truly natural and memorable setting.
This trip will actually change our students' perspectives of the world.
We spend so much time reading and learning about the world around us and they never truly get to experience it. This trip has the ability to change all of that.
