Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Special Education where I get to work with amazing students! The students are hard working, determined, compassionate, friendly, and all around great kids.
I have 2 Circle of Friends groups at the secondary level.
The student in these groups are wanting to expand an activity at school for more students to be involved in, I love their excitement and passion for increasing the opportunities for everyone to be involved at school.
We plan to expand our Gaming Club from secondary only to include students in 5th grade and up! In order to do this we need additional game systems, controllers, games, etc. The club requires students to sign up in advance, students must be in good academic standing and have parent permission to participate. We hope to build our club this year and we dream of having virtual gaming competitions with other schools/districts - but our first step is getting the devices we need.

My Project
The opportunity to participate in a gaming club will provide an additional after school activity for students. This club is open to all students - as long as they are in good academic standing and it will give them a place to make friends, help each other, practice social skills, and just have fun!
The students are excited to see the club grow.
I am excited to see them helping and interacting with each other. The barriers that are often present in the classroom disappear during our club time!
