Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The music program was cut from our district eight years ago and I don't believe there has ever been a physical education teacher in our elementary school. I teach low-income, predominantly ELL students who do not have many extra family resources.

The parachute I currently use in my physical education class is old and torn in many places. I have mended it myself many times but new holes keep appearing. We recently had a school dance and many students were too shy to dance because they have never danced with their peers.

My students love parachute days in P.E. class. They are learning that positive communication in teamwork brings fun results. The accompanying music and folk dance activities would also broaden their horizons.

Your gift will help my students to be more physically active in school and hopefully would carry over into their personal lives, as well.
