Help me give my students Chromebooks and headphones to aid in fulfilling their individual educational goals and enhance classroom instruction through digital connectivity.

I am the 8th grade teacher in our middle school program of Exceptional Children (EC). The students in our classes have deficits in reading and written expression to intellectual disabilities. Their educational challenges are often accompanied by ADHD and/or high functioning autism. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds with a large portion from military families. We are a Title I school that serves EC students from across the district. Though our students have diverse and individual challenges, they bring their own special brand of character traits and talents. This type of individualism requires an Individual Education Plan (IEP). The ability to provide versatility when using technology through Chromebooks is one good way to support these diverse learners and their IEP's.
Chromebooks and headphones in our classroom will make technology more accessible for our unique learners. With this technology, our students have boundless ways of enrichment and remediation as they learn. Whether that is with word problems in math or comprehension in reading, these Chromebooks will provide access to a variety of resources and applications.
Making sure our students are successful and productive is our OEP (Optimal Educational Plan).
Chromebooks and headphones along with online resources are excellent assistive technology (AT). Our students will have greater access to information and problem solving ideas. This technology will provide our students with the space to work without distraction, and the support to address individual learning challenges.
Having these Chromebooks and headphones in our classroom will provide our students with access to specialized applications, screen readers, speech-to-text, screen magnifies and collaboration tools. With your generous donations, we will be “Chroming It Up to Make Our Students Shine” in no time.
