This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My lovely kindergartners are from a large urban district. Most of them ride the bus across the city to get to school. They are happy and eager to learn. School is a fun place to be on a daily basis! For some students, kindergarten is their very first experience with school.

They love using computers, but we only have 2 in our classroom.

I, myself, enjoy planning activities for them to utilize the computer. It is an innovative and integral part of teaching and learning.

My Project

We currently have 2 desktop computers for students to use in our class. As you can imagine, with a class of 25 eager 5-year-olds, it is very difficult to give everyone a turn to type and search and explore on the computer in a timely manner.

We'd like to work on keyboarding skills and navigating the internet.

Having a set of 4 Chromebooks would make having computer turns a more successful experience. Many area schools are fortunate enough to provide whole classes of students with Chromebooks, putting my students at a serious disadvantage with their technology skills. These Chromebooks would make such a difference in reinforcing their computer skills.
