Remember the first book you made? The excitement of showing it off and the pride of reading it to someone else?
My classroom is really not full of gnomes, but 29 incredibly creative and excited learners who are eager to continue typing their own stories.
They are experimenting with author's voice, transitional words and descriptive writing. Our once a week chance to type is hardly enough time for many of them to get it completed.
If we had our own 5 Chromebooks, I could have students typing their stories directly into the computer. After all, the writing process is about getting words and ideas onto the paper--not the actual physical writing of each letter which is actually quite painful for some of our learners.
In a month, they will have to stop typing. That's when our standardized testing begins and we won't be able to use the computer lab. I can already tell this is going to be a problem for my voracious writers.
Please give to this project and help provide the resources needed for my 3rd graders to continue to embrace the writing process and complete their stories and projects using classroom Chromebooks.
