Cables are so last century!
We use technology every day in our middle school math class. We do research, create media, and find examples of math in the real world in real time. Unfortunately, we are literally tied to the wall by HDMI cables, laptop adapters, and battery cords! Let's fix that.
GSA is a public charter school in St.
Louis, MO. Our neighborhood in south city is very diverse, and our student population includes many cultural backgrounds. Our math class includes 6th and 7th graders from all walks of life and educational backgrounds, and that's what makes it so exciting!
My Project
This project will allow us to get technology out of the wall and into the world.
We'll use our new tablet to find examples of math in the real world, research topics that interest us, create projects, and experience media that supports our learning in class. Our classroom thrives on activities that are digitally rich and allow students to experience the real world of mathematics in subtle and exciting ways. We love our StarBoard, but unfortunately the cables and adapters necessary to use it are just too cumbersome. With a tablet and Chromecast, we'll be able to experience math through technology with no limits.
In short, this project will transform my ability to teach mathematics to my middle schoolers!
Right now, due to the necessary cords and adapters, I am stuck behind a desk if I want to use technology with my students. With a tablet and Chromecast, I will be able to share apps, media, and innumerable other resources with my students from anywhere. The possibilities are endless.
