My students need five Chromebooks to be able to work on the programs that our school has purchased. The programs are great and have been proven to boost a child's grade level.
My students walk into the room full of life every morning. I am constantly telling them that they are capable of doing and becoming whatever they want in life. It just takes effort and hard work.
We are a Title I school where 92% of our students receive free or reduced price lunch.
Over a third of my students receive the backpack program which provides them with food for the weekend. Several of the students come from homes that would be considered at poverty level. We try to give our students every advantage that we can, but it is often difficult with our limited funds and resources.
My Project
Our school has purchased the license for an amazing program that is designed and proven to boost and improve the grade level of any student who is struggling. To benefit from this program the students need to use it at least 3-4 times a week, which means we need five Chromebooks.
Our limited resources mean that my class only gets to access the program once a week.
The students have discovered that they really like this program when they get to use it on our Chromebooks. However the Chromebooks that I do have must be shared among the students so they only get to use the program once a week. This is not enough time for the students to access the computer programs that we use.
I know that this program will make a difference in their work if they only had the extra Chromebooks to use more than once each week. Students who are lucky enough to be able to get on the program at home are starting to make gains. These five Chromebooks will make the difference in the classroom .
