My students are all great kids with a lot of advantages. Many of them have been high achievers their entire lives! Most of them are fortunate enough to have a lot of support in school. They are motivated to come to school and work their hardest. They value success and always want to try their best.
Our community is wonderful and most of the students have known each other since kindergarten.
Their families are friends, they often play sports or other extra-curricular activities together outside of school. I love being a part of this family-like environment.
Chromebooks are so useful. They replace the job of student computers because they can do everything a computer can do. In the past, each classroom would hope to have 2-3 computers.
Chromebook technology has changed the classroom.
It is now reasonable to have a Chromebook at the fingertips of each student, and this is our goal. Having a Chromebook for each student puts research, collaboration, and a multitude of other activities within students reach - at any time. It is not rare for us to use Chromebooks several times in a day.
In fifth grade, students work at a variety of rates. Using a Chromebook to practice math facts and other educational games is a fun way for fast-finishers to spend their time independently engaged in an activity while I can work with a small group who might need extra attention. Beyond the technology Chromebooks supply, they also help with classroom management.
