Help me give my students chromebooks they need to help further their educational opportunities in my classroom as we research primary source documents and prepare for the state test!
Primary source document reading has become a staple in my classroom. As a US History teacher, I am tasked with preparing my students for the State Test every semester. However, I like to take an different approach to the test than most. I like to not focus on the questions and answers, but on helping students acquire the skills they need to read and understand the test. I feel this skill of becoming literate will serve them much further in their lives than test-taking strategies ever will.
My students enjoy the chance to uncover new information from primary sources as they get the chance to interpret the writers meaning.
Reading primary documents allows my students to look into the author and discover him/her as a person first. We are looking to acquire new classroom chromebooks not only to read new primary documents, but to background research the authors, the time period, the setting of the materials as a whole.

These new chromebooks will give my students chance to further research materials on their own, further helping to prepare them for the next step in their lives. Whether each student plans to acquire a post-secondary education, join the armed forces, or immediately enter the workforce, each of them needs the skill to read, research and develop their own ideas.
