My school is an inner-city school in which most of the population will be the first in their family to attend college. This school year, our school is focusing on improving SAT test scores, especially with our disengaged students. The students in the SAT Prep class need extra mathematics interventions in order to increase their SAT scores in the Spring. My students plan on attending college or the military when they graduate. They are in need of individualized, student-centered math instruction that will focus on their mathematics skills so they can be more confident as they attend post-secondary schools.
My disengaged students need access to Chromebooks for individualized instruction so they can master the math skills needed for them to increase SAT scores. With the use of a blended learning teaching environment, my students will be able to focus on the skills that are essential to their College and Career Paths. The addition of Chromebooks to my classroom would give my students who are not motivated the opportunity to use educational Chromebooks. Currently, many students want to use their cell phones to access online sites. As an educator, this is often difficult to monitor. If I have Chromebooks available for these disengaged students, I facilitate and assist them in their learning. By getting data from online sources in real time enables me to assist them on an individual basis.
