Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach third grade in a primarily immigrant and working class neighborhood in southern California. My students are hard workers who are motivated to reach their goals. For example, our school has both the ST Math program and the Accelerated Reader program which motivate my students to improve in math and reading.
Most of my students are learning English as a second language.
A couple of them are receiving special education, speech and intervention services. All of them love to learn.
My Project
Chromebooks are amazing machines at an amazing price. My third grade students can use Chromebooks to do 90% of the work of much more powerful and expensive laptops. However, after having had these machines in my classroom for several years, some of them are beginning to show their age and do not meet the system requirements to run specific Chrome apps, such as the app needed for our state testing.
I am requesting five Chromebooks to replace aging machines.
In addition to using the Chromebooks for testing, students will use them to access Google Classroom and other Google products, ST Math, Accelerated Reader, and other websites. These Chromebooks will be used daily for research, skill practice, concept development, and content creation.
