Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 4th and 5th grade ESE students, in a low-income, high poverty area in Florida. It is a Title I school which means that almost all of the students in the school receive free or reduced lunch. I have an amazing and curious group of children that walk into my classroom and steal my heart.

They also lack exposure to things that we can sometimes take for granted.

As a result, most of my students do not have computers or tablets at home and lack basic technological skills.

My Project

We currently have 3 working computers in our classroom in addition to 3 working laptops from previous donations. Adding four more computers give more students the opportunity to access their books online. Here, they can listen to stories we read in class or if they were absent, still have access.

They can also listen to stories on MyOn, iReady lessons to teach and assessed comprehension.

One of our favorite games to play in class is Kahoot. They don't realize they are learning while playing. to help with their vocabulary and fluency in reading. These computers will motivate and excite the students in the learning process.
