A typical day in our inclusion classroom is teaching a whole group lesson, then breaking up into small groups, then students having the opportunity to play educational or go on the computer. During Math and Reading we give the students an opportunity to go on reflex math or tumble books.
A challenge our students face in third grade is becoming more independent.
Third grade is a big transition and becoming more independent is hard for students to achieve. We want to be able to model skills and see our students master that skill independently.
We teach in an inclusion classroom with many special education students. Our students attend a public elementary school grades k-5. Most of our students are visual and hands- on learners. Many of our students do not get to use technology at home, and when coming to school they look forward to working with new technology. Our class is a very social group and enjoys reading, writing, and math. We teach interactively every day as much as possible to keep the students engaged. My class is constantly on the move with many rotations. It is a pleasure to work with our students every day and we love seeing them grow.
My Project
Having 2 Chrome Books will not only help our classroom but it will also help our school. We have 60 chrome books in the building now and we have to share them among 40 plus classes. Having these chrome book will allow other teachers to have the opportunity to use the ones provided by the school. Our students already go on Chrome books to different sites for reading and math. Having chrome books in the classroom will allow our students at any given time to go on the computer and complete an assignment. Google chrome book are also a way of communicating with our students. We can email them an assignment or a google form and they can get right to it. We also have students that are required to go on the computer and complete tasks daily. This will allow our students to stay in the room while completing their assignments. Google chrome books can be used for almost everything!
This project will make a difference in our classroom tremendously.
Not only will it benefit the students in our class but it well help other teachers in the building. Having Google Chromebooks at all times will allow students to get on the computer at any given time and complete an assignment. We will now be able to differentiate instruction for students in all subject areas with using technology. Having these chrome books will be a positive change for our classroom and our daily routines.
