I teach four high school English classes, one journalism class, one drama class and one test prep class. Each class consists of 20-30 students.
My students come to me with unique personalities, dreams, and talents.
They learn collaboratively as I facilitate. Most of my unique high school students are 15 to 18-years-old. They are eager to engage in technical learning and collaboration. Although our administrators do the best they can with what we have, we do not have enough laptops to go around to every classroom at our school.
I lead a staff of Journalism students who eagerly create, manage, and sell our yearbooks. They also raise funds in order for students to be able to afford their memories in their yearbook. We need Chromebooks in order to make this happen in a more efficient way. My drama students need Chromebooks to publish our programs and to learn the skills needed to perform. My English students need Chromebooks for Google Classroom in order to access our writing, reading, and language apps. You could make the difference in the daily education of so many students!
My English, Journalism and Drama students need Chromebooks! All of my students need this 1:1 technology for Google Classroom, Google Forms, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Drive, Google Calendar, and many other learning applications. All of my English classes need Chromebooks for writing, reading, and research. My Drama/Theatre students need this technology to access plays online among many other sites to aid in various aspects of performing arts. Journalism students need to be able to work on our yearbook and broadcasting software. My photographers also need to be able to access photography apps. The sky is the limit once we get our hands on this technology.
In Their Own Words
We need access to technology on a daily basis. Mrs. Wright has shown us how to use all of the Google applications, but we each need a Chromebook. We also need a charging cart to keep them charged for all of her classes. Seven classes will benefit every day from these 25 Chromebooks.
Instead of just complaining about what we do not have, we want to put this plan into action. We hope to show the younger students coming up that by working toward a goal, great things can happen. We hope to work and put our own resources into this project to fulfill this need.
When this project is funded, we will be able to use all of the technological resources daily. English, Journalism, and Drama classes will improve reading and writing skills on these computers. Journalism will be able to work on the yearbook and pictures. Drama students will create their own performances, and read other playwright's plays.
