Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth graders are very special to my heart. Not only do I teach to make a difference for my city, but I teach to make a difference in my neighborhood. Many of my students are my neighbors. Bilingual, persistent, creative, strong, and curious are just a few words I would use to describe my students.
We are a Title I school having one hundred percent of the children receiving free breakfast and lunch.
They love coming to school and are excited about learning. Watching them grow academically, physically and emotionally makes it all worth it. They are the future engineers, doctors, politicians, etc. of Oklahoma.
My Project
Chromebooks are the perfect tool for student organization, collaboration and academic success in the upper elementary grades. Therefore, I am creating this project because I need at least four more Chromebooks to use in my fifth grade classroom. I am expecting to have at least thirty-two to thirty-five students in my class next year, and the Chromebook cart only has thirty available.
In general, children need to become more proficient with computers in the elementary grades, so they can be more technologically advanced in middle school, high school and college.
This is even more important for students like mine who live in poverty and do not have computer access at home. Every day we utilize them for technology integrated learning; whether that be for reading, math, social studies, science, writing or research.
