Help me give my students 4 more Chromebooks with a goal of making it a one-to-one classroom.
This project expired on May 16, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Students in my class are part of the school's dual language program. This means that all students are learning material in both English and Spanish throughout the year. Approximately half of my students are native Spanish speakers and thus learning English as a second language throughout the year. The other half of my students are native English speakers and must learn the Spanish language and also meet lesson objectives in Spanish.
After several years at our school, most of these students are bilingual and able to read, write, and speak in two languages!
How commendable, especially in this day and age. However, due to the high language demands of learning all subjects in two languages, our students need even more visuals than most.
Our school only has 72 Chromebooks for our approximately 350 students. We have even less access to them when the school is testing. Therefore, I'd like to finish building a classroom set of 25 so each of my students has access at all times. Because of generous donations, our classroom has already been funded 21 Chromebooks! We're almost there!!!
We use Chromebooks for all of our writing units--to research, take notes, write essays and narratives on Google Docs, and prepare presentations with photographs and videos on Google Slides.
Students are motivated to make the revisions and edits that I suggest because it is easy to do so. They take such pride in sharing their professional looking work. Students also enjoy literacy and mathematics games to improve the skills we're learning in class.
