My Students
My math classroom is centered around student exploration. The students at our school are students that do not always have the means to utilize technology and to gain the necessary life skills with it.
My 8th grade students want more from their curriculum and need the resources to get there!
These students are hard workers and deserve to get the most out of their learning.
The students I teach at our middle school are economically disadvantaged with all receiving free breakfast and lunch. These students have limited technological advantages at home and their only opportunity with these resources is at school.
My Project
The Chromebooks would be used to assist students in their learning through various math programs that are offered. It allows me the opportunity to use math stations in my classroom where one station would be working with the Chromebooks to get a more in-depth look at the concept that is being addressed.
By having these tool available at all times, students will be able to use key programs designed to deepen their math knowledge.
Using a program like Flipgrid, students would be able to use these Chromebook to record short videos to explain their learning at another level. The online website of Desmos allows students to play with math skills to further their learning and assist in gaining more from their basic curriculum.
I understand that many schools have a Bring Your Own Device policy in place, but working with these students who are economically disadvantaged, many don't have a device to bring that would allow for these tools to be effective.
