My students need Chromebooks to have access to technology! Having Chromebooks in the classroom will help me provide intervention/enrichment and engage students!
My students live in Ohio and our school is one of the larger schools in our county. Most of my students come from low-income, high needs homes. They face challenges outside of the academic realm. Our school receives a grant in which 100% of the students are offered a free breakfast and lunch.
My goal is to engage every student, each and every day.
To do this, I try to create variety in my lessons by appealing to their learning styles and interests. My classroom is an inclusion classroom, and there is a wide range of learning levels.
I also coach track and cross country. I believe sports provide an opportunity to learn life skills such as time management, leadership, teamwork, and developing a success mindset.
My Project
In my math class, I try to incorporate technology as much as possible. My goal is to get enough Chromebooks to be able to use them for a learning station in the classroom. At the learning station, the Chromebooks can be used several ways. I can have struggling learners do reteaching activities, while students who have mastered the content can do enrichment activities.
My students get so excited when they get to use technology!
There are just so many things that can be done on the computers, whether it's utilizing Aleks for instruction, playing math video games, Kahoot, or using the Internet for research on real-life application projects. As a teacher, I can also use the Chromebooks for quick, easy data collection. With the click of a button on Google Forms, I can see how many of my students have mastered the content.
I teach the 8th grade inclusion math, so we have several students with Individualized Education Plans and the technology can help provide activities for all levels of learners,
