Every year a new group of students find their way to my fourth grade classroom. They have their own unique personalities and strengths, which requires a different approach of classroom management and instructional techniques. This year my group is very diverse in ability level, motivation, confidence and the level of support they receive from home. They love doing group activities with their friends and occasionally need a firm redirection as we all do!
If I had to describe my group with just one word it would have to be energetic!
They expect to have a high level of involvement in every lesson and for these students the ole "sit & get" type of instruction is hardly an option!
My Project
My class has computer lab three times a week for forty-five minutes so we have to go when we are scheduled; however, if we had our own little personal computers in the classroom, we could use them as we needed to. Currently, if we see that technology could helps us with our content or as resource we have to wait until lab time!
Our school is slowly working toward every student having their own computer, but my students want to get a jump start!
Having a Chromebook at their desk would open up great learning opportunities for them. They would learn how to use them, but also the most appropriate time to use them. Having access to the web whenever they need it could certainly be a game changer!
