In today's world, access to technology is absolutely integral. Modern education should match this societal demand. Technology is all around our students, so it should be included in the classroom to help engage them and provide relevance. Students enjoy working with a keyboard much more than a pen.
Middle School students are a unique breed of child in today's education system.
They require relevance in the classroom to stay engaged and to learn effectively. With access to Chromebooks, students will not only be working on the type of device they will be working on for the rest of their lives, they will also have a wealth of information at their fingertips.
Our students have an incredible willingness to learn and our school and community are some of the most supportive in the state. With technology as a learning tool in the classroom, students will be able to exceed expectations and go beyond the lesson.
My Project
The donations from this project will be used to enhance lessons through technology using Chromebooks. Google Apps for Education are powerful tools that are made even more powerful through Chrome OS. All students will be able to use the technology to take notes, turn in assignments, read, annotate and research. Students with special needs with be able to use the technology for speech-to-text software, audiobooks and clarification of information. Even athletes will be able to watch film and research.
Students will be expected to work in a desktop environment for much of their lives, no matter what profession the choose.
They should have the ability to practice technology skills as they are learning, so that they can both learn more effectively, and be tech-savvy in an increasingly technology-dependent world.
