Help me give my students Chromebooks for more technology integration opportunities that will help them to expand their knowledge and use programs that can reinforce skills in an engaging way!
I have the distinct pleasure of teaching an inquisitive and diverse group of young learners. My class is made up of students with an array of interests, talents, and challenges both academic and non-academic.
Our school is incredibly unique in that we are not only teaching the traditional academic curricula but we are giving our students the tools they need to apply the skills learned in the classroom to real-life situations.
Students run businesses, interview for jobs, adhere to school laws, pay fees for laws broken, have bank accounts, elect government officials, and vote on important issues. They are learning to become fiscally and socially responsible citizens every day.
We have come a long way as a new charter school. We have had many challenges and successes over the past year. Throughout it all, we strive to provide a high-quality education that will reach all of our students in a positive and individualized manner.
My Project
If my students receive these Chromebooks, they will be able to use them during math and literacy centers to reinforce and practice the skills we have learned in class every day. Specifically, students during our math block would use these Chromebooks to practice math facts using programs such as Xtramath and IXL. During the reading block, students can use programs such as Readworks and No Red Ink as a center to practice language arts and comprehension skills. In addition to these benefits, having multiple Chromebooks in the classroom would also allow more students to access technology at a time without needing to wait. Technology integration is an integral component in a 21st-century classroom and these Chromebooks will help my students to thrive in their learning!
