Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a Title I school in Philadelphia, the majority of our students do not have access to technology at home- so they rely on school technology to complete scientific research, investigations, and assignments.

The students at our school are resilient, motivated, and brilliant.

They work hard in the face of adversity.

Science is a gateway for our students to think deeper. To ask questions. To solve problems. To innovate. To dream. The beauty of science is that it teaches students that mistakes happen to foster our understanding.

My Project

Have you ever wondered what materials could block a WiFi signal? Or how to make a simple thermal generator at home? Or which water filter works the best? These are all topics that our students have investigated!

Our students crave learning opportunities based in scientific inquiry and discovery.

This year alone we had 36 students grades 5-12 participate in the citywide George Washington Carver Science Fair!

In a school of over 1,200 students in grades K-12 booking a laptop cart for scientific research can be pretty tricky. By donating to this project our growing science department will have their own Chromebook cart for student use. With your help, our students can explore even more!
