Our school is home to roughly 300 great fourth and fifth graders. Forty-six percent of our school’s population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, based on family income, making us a Title I school. Many local families are focused simply on working to sustain basic financial needs. Our schools are aging. We are struggling to put band aids on our buildings while we try to raise money for new ones. Our classroom budgets don't provide for all that I need.
My Project
This project will help provide students access to technology throughout the day. With the chromebooks that are part of this project, students will be able to access classroom and district assessments including MAP, STAR and our state assessment, the ISAT without having to go to a computer lab. Students will be able to use various websites to hone their skills such as Typing Pal to help with keyboarding, IXL to practice math and reading skills, and SeeSaw to share their learning with parents. The additional chromebooks will allow more students to be able to use technology throughout the day.
Chromebooks will help me know more about my students.
Through digital assessments I am provided real time feedback about student understanding. This allows me to respond to student needs immediately. At this time, sharing devices hinders me from being able to assess students easily. Additional chromebooks will increase the amount of classroom data I have to inform my instruction.
