This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is my first year to teach Electronics and Robotics. The previous 14 years I have taught math. I teach students from four different high schools in my school district. Students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and want to learn skills that will help them find employment after high school or go to college if they choose.
I want to prepare my students for the path they choose to follow.
Creating a simulated work environment is my goal. I want my students to learn in an environment where they will form excellent employability skills. With your help, my students will be successful!
My Project
Robotics students in my class are going to have an opportunity to learn programming using the Python language. We are in need of Chromebooks so that students can plug in their 'bots and program them. Programming incorporates math and science into any classroom. Learning programming in a high school setting will prepare my students to become college and/or career ready. The possibilities are endless. Learning coding provides an opportunity to try a code, troubleshoot and make corrections, then see their projects become a success. Students will learn how to think logically. They will be able to take a vague idea and turn on their creativity. Math, science, and logical thinking are skills that will last a lifetime!
