My Students

"Can you handle the power of yet?' has been the driving force for my students this year in Physical Science. I have the pleasure of teaching a group of young ladies and gentleman in a title-1 funded school that are inquisitive, innovative and love to experience science. My students come from many walks of life and many have limited resources outside of school. This is why experiences are vital in our classroom.

With 8th graders enrolled in a 9th grade course, experiences are what help ensure they have a foundation in which to build their knowledge of science.

Teaching in a title-1 school provides with a completely different set of challenges, with many students not having resources of their own. Also, many of my students are English Language learners, so visuals, videos and technology are key to supporting their educational experiences. My students have the desire to learn, now with the tools, they can excel.

My Project

Physical science is such a complex subject. The students in my classes are 8th graders but are currently enrolled in a high school level course. Not only are they learning about science but physical science is also math-heavy.

Since we are not always able to do hands-on labs we sometimes utilize digital simulations.

The Chromebooks you are helping to provide will allow my students to grasp their learning in a variety of ways. This will allow students to also become more engaged in their learning.

This will also allow me to provide additional support to my small groups when we are reteaching content that students didn't grasp. I use a variety of strategies to reteach the information.
