My students need a Chromebook and case to complete online activities and assignments, participate in individualized online learning, and enjoy engaging educational online games.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a learning support teacher, I am faced with the challenge of engaging each of my students in their own unique ways. Each student has different goals and learning needs. It is my passion as an educator to find the avenues and materials that make it "click" for my students.
My students face many challenges along with their learning difficulties, so it is important for me to make my classroom an inviting and inspiration, safe haven for them.
Working in a low-income area, requires teachers to be fully committed to providing everything possible for their students. Despite our best efforts, we cannot always supply the materials that we know would best suit our students in enhancing their educational experiences. I can, however, always supply a smile, words of encouragement, and instruction that sparks their interest and creativity. In order to put two and two together, we need all of the support possible.
My Project
In 2016, technology is an essential aspect of all student learning, but it is especially needed in a special education classroom. Students that receive learning support are in need of individualized instruction and assessments. They each learn and grow in their own way. In order for students to be able to track their own progress and goals, they must use specialized programs that cater to their learning needs. Without the proper technology with CHromebooks, it is difficult for my students to reinforce the instruction that I give them on a daily basis. I use as many different types of materials as possible to make my instruction relevant and engaging. With technology in my classroom, I will be able to take my instruction to a new level.
Chromebooks are the perfect type of technology for elementary aged students.
They are easy to use and navigate independently. My students crave the feeling of independence and autonomy. Technology gives them the opportunity to show what they are capable of doing on their own educational level. Chromebooks would be an amazing asset to my classroom and my students' success.
