I switched schools and grade levels this year, which means that I will be needing different types of materials to keep students engaged. My students this year are in an area that is high mobility, due to the military base being near the school.
The students in my class are in 5th graders and mostly military.
The constant moving means that there will be gaps in their education that I will be trying to fill and there will be advanced students that need something extra. The rest of the students are from a low socioeconomic status and face a variety of challenges of their own.
My Project
Students are expected to prepare for a world where online communication is imperative to success. They need digital skills such as research, typing, and creating projects. We need 30 computers to have a class set for our grade level to share, but we are starting with 5 and hoping to build up to a class set.
Not only are these skills necessary for school but they will help them in the job market they will be facing!
These computers will also allow them to access tools such as coding websites, math tools, writing and movie making programs, and many more. It will make it easier to create lessons that are engaging and on the students' ability and interest level!
