My students need four Chromebooks to help close the achievement gap.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a teacher working in a low-income, high poverty school district, I see that my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Regardless of the many challenges they face, I am striving to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
"A good teacher must be able to put himself in the place of those who find learning difficult".
My students receive inclusion special education services. They are instructed in Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Their disabilities range from Developmental Delays, Intellectual Disabilities, Other Health Impairment to Specific Learning Disability. Their parents cannot always provide the school resources they need to be successful.
My students are willing and eager to learn. To ensure that they are learning and having fun, I want to make sure they have the things they need. My desire is to create a learning environment that is safe and student friendly.
I am requesting four Chromebooks to build toward a 1:1 initiative in my classroom, which will be used for all reading and math and online classes. Not all of my students have access to technology at home. Having additional Chromebooks available means that students can come to my class before and after school to work on assignments. Students will also be able to complete online assessments and other engaging interactive activities. Enter our room and you'll hear keyboards clicking, stories being read aloud, and online games being played. Are my students off task? No! They are using Chromebooks to meet their individual needs, build collaborative skills, and gain the necessary technical skills to be successful in the 21st Century.
Technology is changing in the way we interact with the world.
They range in interests, abilities, and cultural background. Some are strong readers, some struggle to read, some struggle in math, and some are go-getters! However, they all have one thing in common they are all part of the Ms. N's family. We work hard to build a strong community in my classroom and technology integration plays a key role in this. We are a Title I school and my classroom is an inclusion classroom. My students use the Chromebooks that we have as much as possible, but we need a few more to build a 1:1 initiative in my classroom, which will be used for all subjects.
