Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic learners who strive to do their best. They enjoy learning through many different modalities. As a teacher at a Title I elementary school, I find there are times my students are not exposed to science and technology outside of the classroom. Over seventy percent of our campus receives free or reduced-price lunch, and often times, we have students who are unable to access technology outside of the classroom, but my students are enthusiastically coming to school ready and eager to learn.

My students are looking to actively be learners in the 21st century, and they are ready to face their future head on.

In my classroom, I work hard to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable learning environment. I try to seek and find ways to make learning fun and relevant to my students. I have created a community of learners in my classroom where my students look forward to coming to school. My students will take advantage of every learning opportunity that is brought their way. The motto at our school is, "be as proud as you be, education is the key," and our students do their best to be the best they can be.

My Project

Technology has become a major component for children in education today. Growing up in today's society, it is almost a requirement to be technologically savvy in the classroom. It is important that we teach our students at an early age how to responsibly access and use technology, so they can take advantage of the limitless opportunities that technology provides. The problem we have is our school does not have enough devices for all students to use on a daily basis, and many of my students do not have access to technology outside of school. This makes it very difficult for students to complete tasks and projects that they are working on through out the day. If my students had daily access to a Dell Chromebook we would use them for a wide variety of activities. We would use them for research projects, writing and publishing essays, Slide show presentations, reading and responding to articles and short stories. My students would be able to access math and reading programs to differentiate their learning such a SumDog, Prodigy, ReadWorks, and Commonlit, as well as Hour of Code. Having daily access to technology will help prepare my students for a bright and successful future. It will reach the very diverse learners in my classroom which will motivate and stimulate their love of learning.
