Help me give my students Chromebooks to help build skills for the language service industry!
My Students
Our students attend the only regional project-based learning school in Wisconsin; we are an intentionally diverse school, so our students come from all over southeastern Wisconsin. Many of our students find the school as a sanctuary after traditional schools; we bring kids together and work collaboratively to create a place where students engage in deep, meaningful learning.
It's not rare to see kids of different races, backgrounds, interests, and skill sets working together and forming strong relationships at our school.
We pride ourselves on challenge, authenticity, and compassionate interaction. In the fall of 2020 we'll have about 100 students, across all ability levels, from both the city of Milwaukee and well into the surrounding areas. Our students have started businesses, worked alongside professionals in internships, and won awards for their artistic endeavors. We're proud to be a family.
My Project
We are now offering college level Arabic curriculum at Pathways High, and we want to ensure that their language skills are transferable to real world scenarios. Simply being proficient in another language is no longer enough to be an effective and competitive professional in the world of language service or international business. Students need to be ready to leverage technology to make the most of their language skills in the classroom and in the working world. To prepare language learners for real-world application of their language skills, we need a specific set of Chromebooks with the capabilities to use different language keyboards and allow them to access foreign language media. We can also set these chromebooks up with access to translation software and other digital tools to help prepare our advanced students for the language service industry. These shared language-ready Chromebooks will give our students the edge when moving from the classroom to the workforce.
