Chromebooks for Kindergarten

Help me give my students Chromebooks to work on reading and math programs in our classroom.

My Students

I have a full classroom of 23 Kindergarten students. We are half day program and half day Optional Enhanced Kindergarten (OEK). This year the funding was on our side and we were able to manage to have 20 of my 23 students stay full day in my classroom. What a difference that has made to these students!

They have made exceptional progress this year.

Many students came to school without knowing any letters and sounds to now the middle of the year where they have progressed and are able to read and write many words and and working on creating their own stories.

These students love learning and I feel lucky to be able to teach them and watch them grow.

My Project

Our school has purchased a reading program and a math program for us to use with our students. Our class goes to the computer lab for 30 minutes a week. Due to the lack of substitutes and often missing Fridays we don't get to the computer lab regularly and when we do there's not enough time for the students to accomplish a lot.

I would like to have a technology station in my classroom to be used during center time where the students can access the computer programs that the school has already purchased.

I currently have 5 Chromebooks in my classroom but they are too outdated to access and run these two programs. I would be able to get students on these Chromebooks every day.

I believe having these Chromebooks in my classroom will give students the practice and confidence to easily use the reading and math programs that the school has provided. It will also greatly help the students academically and emotionally if and when they are at home quarantined due to Covid and also if we have to go virtual again. Due to the students already having experience in the classroom they will feel more confident in learning at home.
