My students need Chromebooks for various classroom tasks. The technology that I have available in my classroom isn't the latest or the greatest, and I would like to provide my students with some better options.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 3rd grade ESL students, many of whom are from low-income families. They are a very diverse group of students; representing a number of different countries and languages. Many of them are brand new to the country and they are all working on developing their English language abilities.
These students will have a variety of needs and they will represent a wide range of abilities and skills.
They will need a lot of strategic instruction delivered in small group format in addition to whole group, partner work, and group work format.
My Project
These Chromebooks will be used all day long in my classroom if we get them. Math centers, reading centers, and research will all become a breeze if I am able to replace some of the older technology in my classroom with these machines. We got 2 Chromebooks funded through DonorsChoose, and my goal is to keep getting more so that I have enough to use them as a small group center so that all students in the group can experience up to date technology that is intuitive.
Between literacy and math centers, my students spend a significant portion of the day using online programs.
Every minute counts and is precious to these students, and the older, slower technology that we have is often very difficult for them to maneuver. These Chromebooks will speed along the process of logging in, finding websites, etc. My students will be able to spend every spare second using the programs they love and that will benefit them the most.
Most importantly, these will be so useful for research projects, and for my newcomers that are not able to write independently quite yet. I can hook them up with a Chromebook and microphone, they will be able to speak in their native language, and we will get it translated into English writing in no time! What a time saver, and a great way to get my newcomers involved when they are anxious about speaking and writing!
