This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
In the Journalism class, students will learn how to use yearbook software to produce a school yearbook and Google Apps for producing monthly school calendars, newsletters, etc.
Our Middle School is home to approximately 500 students.
A majority of those students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Even so, many of these students are very bright. Providing these students with new technology and the journalism course will enable them to be successful learners.
My Project
The addition of two Chromebooks would help the students keep up with the school district's shift to Google classrooms. They will learn basic computer skills such as keyboarding skills. They will learn how to access and utilize google applications such as google docs, sheets and slides. They will learn how to share completed work with the teacher for evaluation.
This project will improve my classroom by helping to achieve a 1-1 ratio of students to computers so that they can work on producing the yearbook and other projects at the same time.
