Our school's students in the special education program come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and have a variety of unique educational needs and abilities. These students are working on developing leadership skills while feeling more comfortable expressing themselves through writing, dialogue, and peer interactions.
Every day, our students work hard to grow academically, become more independent, and to be the best people they can be!
Many of these students have various reading, writing, and processing disorders that can make it very difficult for them to access the general education curriculum without support. These fabulous students feel so successful when they reach their goals with some independence! They are wonderful students who inspire us each and every day with their perseverance.
My Project
Technology is a hot commodity in our school! At times, it is difficult to have access to computers on a regular basis. Having a small set of Chromebooks in the special education wing would allow our students to have access to technology on a daily basis. Students will be able to work more independently, using the Chromebooks to read and listen to books, dictate and type writing assignments, and practice computer skills.
By donating to our project, our students will have this essential technology at their fingertips, allowing them to be more independent!
Having these Chromebooks will allow these awesome students easier access to audio books, text-to-speech and speech-to-text technology, and more to give them fair access to the general education curriculum and to allow them to work on their individual learning goals.
