Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We teach in a full inclusion co-taught classroom in an urban public school with 830 students. Our students come to us with a variety of academic, linguistic and social-emotional needs. A majority of the students in our classroom are English Language Learners. It is essential that all students have access to technology to assist in their learning, especially given the diverse needs of our students. Access to quality education technology opens up incredible opportunities for more targeted math and ELA intervention, as well as enriching avenues for self-expression.
Our classroom is a really special place, full of students who love learning and come to school ready to work hard each day!
Families are active in our school community and are willing to donate their time to our classrooms, but at home, students may not have access to educational technology. We want to give students as much access as possible to current technology within our classroom.
My Project
In our experience, Chromebooks are powerful tools for making ELA and math content flexible enough for all students. It is important that our students be exposed to curricula in a variety of ways to meet all of their learning needs. Chromebooks not only increase student engagement in learning but also allow students to access math, reading, writing, phonics, science and social studies curriculum in unique ways. Students will be able to listen to books being read aloud, practice math skills such as telling time and counting coins through interactive games, develop essential phonics skills at their own level, and so much more.
Your donation will help make learning more accessible to and more engaging for our amazing second graders.
We care deeply about our students and are grateful for your support to make our classroom experience even more equitable.
