As a charter school we lack a good flow of novels and material for our students to read. I teach 9-12 English with multiple preps needed for the different course I teach. I am constantly supplying paper and making copies of reading material. I would love to have ChromeBooks for my students. I am using OneNote to create online journals and links to various websites to keep my students engaged in this time of uncertainty. My students are taking Live lessons via Zoom and submitting all of their coursework online.
With the new switch over to digital overnight, I know it's a struggle and I want my students to be prepared for this next year.
I want to have at least 15 ChromeBooks in the classroom that they can share while in class. I want to keep teaching them using the digital format I have grown to love in the classroom.
My Project
Living in a world where being digitally connected to the world around us is very important for students. I teach High School students in a charter school in South Florida meaning we have limited supplies and resources available to us. During this current Pandemic I have continued to teach virtually through live lessons through Zoom and OneNote for Classwork. When we return to our physical classroom, I would like to keep providing my students with the digital notebooks that we have begun. These ChromeBooks would be a great asset to have in our classroom.
I teach English 4 which is the Senior Class, Pre-Aice, and Aice/General Paper.
My students range from normal to below average and advanced. I am working with students at various levels of reading and writing. Having ChromeBooks in the classroom allows me to differentiate between the different classes and reading levels. My Seniors like to read things that relate to them and my Aice/General Paper course is heavily based on current events not textbooks. These students need to be able to do tons of online reading and viewing of the news.
