Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach SIXTY enthusiastic students in two English Language Arts classes at the middle school level. Most of them, 65%, are ENL (English as a New Language) students.
Many of my students face challenges in completing their reading/writing assignments at home due to the lack of technology.
The same challenges transfer to the classroom, where there’s only one DINOSAUR desktop to service 60 students.
The students are hard working individuals that love to learn and always go the extra mile when it comes to their academic work. The Chromebooks will bring a new level of enthusiasm for their assignments.
My Project
The Chromebooks will be used to create a digital classroom experience where students will be able to communicate or interact with the teacher during English Language Arts. The students will be able to use Google applications to create presentations as well as to write content research papers about the different topics studied in class.
This year a new writing curriculum, Educating Powerful Writers, has been introduced.
Google will be our search engine of choice and Google docs will be used to share their writing.
In addition, students will be able to access online reading programs such as A-Z reading, online magazine subscriptions, and other similar online curricular resources.
My students and I are ready to embrace upgraded technology into our classroom.
