LHS is a public high school near Baltimore, Maryland. Our school is ethnically and culturally diverse with students speaking a variety of languages including Spanish, Burmese, French, Hindi, and Arabic.
Our students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds with over 75% receiving free or reduced lunch.
Despite the hardships many of them face outside of school, my students are shy but eager learners. As a teacher my goal is to prepare my students academically for college and careers as well as to give them the tools they need to become socially and digitally conscious members of society.
My Project
Mathematics is a discipline that lends itself readily to technology integration. A twenty-first century math classroom without technology is a classroom that is inadequately preparing its students to become digitally literate citizens.
Your generous donation to our project will improve the relevance and effectiveness of our mathematics classroom!
My students will use these chromebooks in small groups to access educational resources such as Khan Academy, BrainPop, and their online textbook. They will also use them to demonstrate their learning by completing projects and other smaller computer-based assignments that model the online PARCC exam they are required to pass to graduate. Through completing these content-driven lessons and projects using technology, my students will also improve their general computer and technology skills.
