Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I'm excited to co-teach in a full inclusion third-grade classroom in an urban public school with 830 hardworking students, most of whom are first-generation immigrants. These incredible children come to us with a variety of diverse academic, social-emotional, and linguistic needs.
An inclusion classroom is a learning environment dedicated to supporting all students; those who are at or exceeding grade level expectations and those with individualized special education plans.
Access to quality educational technology opens up incredible opportunities for more targeted math and ELA intervention, as well as enriching avenues for self-expression.
My Project
In our experience, Chromebooks are powerful tools for making ELA and math content flexible enough for all students.
Our school is dedicated to providing an education that supports student voice and choice in their learning.
Imagine: Students listening to chapter books they can't yet access on their own, animating storybooks using scratch, and manipulating visual math tools to explore powerful mathematical ideas. Chromebook applications like Google Read and Write can be transformative for a student, allowing them to listen to text they couldn't otherwise access, translate, and look up unfamiliar words, and orally record their ideas.
We care deeply about our students and are grateful for your support to make our classroom experience even more equitable.
