“We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world.” – David Warlick
Access to technology has become a vital component of the learning environment in our classroom.
My classroom is full of 32 wonderful, bright, dedicated students who deserve to be set up for success. My students are excited to use these tools to engage in learning. They are entitled to computer access for the many skills they are expected to learn. My students are motivated, eager, and hard-working. They inspire me daily, and I want them to have the tools necessary to succeed to their highest potential! I want my students to have the same opportunities to excel as their peers. Our classroom is full of 21st century learners who deserve the 21st century tools to master 21st century skills! These Chromebooks will allow our children the opportunity to thrive and succeed in the fourth grade.
My Project
With the new Common Core Curriculum, my students are expected to learn how to do research online, collaborate with their peers, write and type essays, and take assessments. With these Chromebooks, they will have more access to the amazing software programs that provide personalized instruction based on each child’s performance. These programs include Lexia Core5 and Accelerated Reader for reading, and TenMarks for math. My students need more access to computers to master the skills they are expected to learn. We will learn keyboarding skills so they can focus on the content of their writing. We will learn digital citizenship and how to collaborate with their classmates. Students will also learn how to engage in valid research to support their learning as well as utilize computer programs to present their learning. Students will be able to take online assessments on a regular basis and be better prepared for the online SBACC at the end of the year.
Your generous donations can make it possible for the students in my class to have more equitable access to technology.
With the addition of 10 new Chromebooks, we will have enough for my students to share more equitably and efficiently. We currently have 16 Chromebooks for 32 students to share. When my project is funded, every child in my class will have better access to technology every day! Our students will be able to explore, research, create, and engage in personalized learning with additional Chromebooks in our classroom.
